Autocross School

Hello everyone! Wow, that was a long break. Life has been so hectic lately and winter isn’t the best time for car stuff anyway. It’s good to be back…

Earlier this month I attended The Learning Curve put on by the Chicago Region SCCA. It’s a 2-day autocross school where you learn proper driving techniques and how events are run. It started with about an hour of classroom time and then it was over to the lot for practice runs. There were 2 short courses set up and I ran course 1 in the first half, course 2 in the second half. On Sunday, they were combined into 1 big course and it was timed so we could experiment with racing lines and see how we were improving. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. I had an excellent teacher who took me for a wild ride in his prepped car. It was a blast. Below are some pics I took of the event. There were all kinds of cars, from vintage vettes to new M3’s to Scions (love the old school wheels on the XA).

My favorite group shot of the day. A Miata, a Lotus,a VW GTI, a Neon, a 70s Corvette, an S2000, and my Vibe GT.

Look out! Comin’ thru!! Ha ha, actually I was proably 100 feet from this person and turning the opposite way but the camera guy was at a funny angle.

Cant wait to get back out there!

  1. That sounds like a great time. I would love to have a chance to do a 2-day, 2-course event like that. It looks like there was some good competition too. How were your times?
